American Civic Engagement (ACE)
American Civic Engagement (ACE) is a two-semester course designed to prepare students for informed, engaged citizenship. Students will develop a thorough understanding of the foundations of American democracy, the interactions among the branches/levels of government, civil liberties, rights/responsibilities, and political processes. Modern social, economic, and ideological issues will be addressed in historical context. This course will promote extensive use of primary sources and project-based learning. Students will participate in a culminating Civic Action Project that encourages civic-mindedness and active engagement in the democratic process.
