Introduction to Accounting
Introduction to Accounting is a college level course (ACC 100) offered in partnership with Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) and taught by CCAC faculty.
This course introduces the fundamental concepts, procedures and terminology of accounting. Students learn the basic principles of the accounting cycle such as analyzing transactions, journal entries, worksheets, adjustments and closing entries. Bank reconciliations and petty cash processes are reviewed. This course is aimed toward students who have not had previous exposure to accounting principles.
Students will receive instruction virtually during class meeting time. Though students cannot earn USCHS credit for this course, upon successful completion of the course, they will earn three CCAC credits for ACC 100. Additionally, Introduction to Accounting will not appear on the USCHS transcript and the grade earned will not impact the USCHS GPA calculations. As of the 2025-26 school year, these credits are at no charge for the student and are funded by a grant from BNY Mellon (subject to change).
