MYP Academic Chemistry
This course uses a three-dimensional framework of engaging in real world phenomena to deduce principles of chemistry. Instruction is delivered primarily through student centered activities. This course is designed to meet the needs of those students who enroll as a matter of general interest, as well as those who may need to take a science course as a part of their major at the college level. Students will learn and understand the basic concepts underlying the facts, formulas, and principles that compose a high school chemistry course. Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills will be developed not only to use in chemistry, but by extension, to use in everyday life. MYP instruction will emphasize IB principles, such as global contexts, Approaches to Learning, international mindedness, the Learner Profile, and development of skills for lifelong learning.
