Personal Wellness (S)

Open to 11th-grade students, Personal Wellness is a unique one-semester extended physical education offering. This course will be facilitated through an online environment led by an Upper St. Clair teacher, with the goal of enhancing each student’s wellness by increasing their awareness of strategies for improving their overall well-being. In addition to completing written assignments, discussions, and quizzes, students are required to participate in weekly physical fitness activities for this course. Students will be required to complete a minimum of four hours per week of physical fitness activities on at least four different days each week, including cardiovascular endurance, resistance training, and flexibility exercises. These guidelines help students achieve the recommended 60 minutes or more of physical activity each day, as recommended by the American Heart Association, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.  Due to the online nature of this course, students must demonstrate intrinsic motivation, self-discipline, and integrity, both in their academic pursuits and in their personal wellness.
